This craft will help you learn about Hannah's faithful prayer and her gift of Samuel.


Materials Needed

  • 1 piece of construction paper (any light color)

  • 1 paper cup (or a clean, empty yogurt container)

  • Markers or crayons

  • Scissors

  • Glue or tape

  • A small piece of fabric, tissue paper, or a napkin

  • A rubber band or piece of string


Craft Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Step 1: Place your paper cup upside down on the table. This will be the body of baby Samuel.

  • Step 2: Draw a small circle on your construction paper and cut it out. This will be Samuel's face.

  • Step 3: Use a marker to draw a happy, sleeping face on the circle.

  • Step 4: Glue the paper face near the top edge of the upside-down paper cup.

  • Step 5: Take your piece of fabric or tissue paper and wrap it around the cup like a baby blanket.

  • Step 6: Secure the blanket around the cup using a rubber band or string so it stays in place.

  • Step 7: On the leftover construction paper, draw a big, beautiful heart and carefully cut it out.

  • Step 8: Write these exact words inside the heart: "I prayed for this child." - 1 Samuel 1:27.

  • Step 9: Glue the bottom of the heart to the back of the cup so the heart peeks up behind Samuel.

  • Step 10: Place your finished baby Samuel craft in your room to remind you that we can bring everything to God in prayer!
