Materials Needed

• 1 piece of blue construction paper (for the background)

  1 piece of brown construction paper

  1 Goliath cutout page (download here)

  1 small pebble (or a small piece of grey crumpled paper)

  1 piece of string or yarn (about 12 inches long)

  Markers or crayons

  Safety scissors

  Glue stick

  Tape

  
  

Step-by-Step Instructions

• Step 1: Place your blue construction paper flat on the table horizontally. This will be the background for the valley where the battle happens.
• Step 2: Use a brown or green crayon to draw a wide hill along the bottom edge of the blue paper to represent the ground.
• Step 3: Take your brown piece of paper and cut out a small rectangle shape to make a pocket. This will be David’s shepherd pouch
• Step 4: Glue only the left, right, and bottom edges of the brown rectangle onto the left side of your background paper, leaving the top open like a pocket.
• Step 5: Use a black marker to write the word "COURAGE" in big letters on the front of the brown pocket.
• Step 6: Take your Goliath cutout page, then carefully cut it out.
• Step 7: Glue the large Goliath figure flat onto the right side of your blue background paper so he is standing tall.
• Step 8: Use a bright marker to neatly write the Bible verse at the top of your background paper: "Psalm 20:7".
• Step 9: Take your piece of string or yarn and tie one end tightly around your small pebble or grey paper ball to make David's smooth stone.
• Step 10: Tape the other end of the string inside the open brown pocket so the stone can be pulled out and swung toward Goliath to show how God gave David courage!
